
The United Auto Workers is chapped at Ford and at the NAFTA
agreement because the company announced today that it’s going to build a
new small-car plant in Mexico, of all places. The new plant will create
2,800 additional “direct” jobs by 2020, the company announced — jobs
that the union believes rightfully belong in the United States, and
maybe in its backyard in Wayne, Mich. Well, this is really rich. UAW
leadership knew very well last fall that the extra financial padding
they reached for with their intransigence in bargaining was going to
